His comedy start would be through The Second City, ImprovOlympic, Annoyance Theatre, and Zanies Comedy Club.He would also co-star alongside John Ashton in Uncle John, which was released in 2015.In 2016, he would be asked to join the cast of SNL.
His debut for SNL was during the episode hosted by Margot Robbie. He became a repertory cast member in 2018 before the 44th season. In the December 19th, 2020 episode of SNL, Alex Moffat would appear as President-elect Joe Biden and formally take over playing Joe Biden from Jim Carrey. The latter had played him previously in recent sketches and cold opens.
