Rev Run, born Joseph Simmons in Queens, rose to fame as the “Run” in the iconic hip-hop group Run-D.M.C. Formed in 1982 with Darryl McDaniels and DJ Jam Master Jay, the group revolutionized music by blending rock and rap, notably with their hit “Walk This Way.” After Jam Master Jay’s tragic murder in 2002, Rev Run pursued a solo career, releasing Distortion in 2005 under RSMG.
