Mikey Day is a native of Orange Country, California, and he would pursue comedy while studying at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a Groundlings alumnus, and he has also written for several TV shows over the years. Mikey Day wrote and co-starred in David Blaine Street Magic and was an original cast member on Wild ‘n Out. Day would also have a starring role in the Kath & Kim remake in 2009.
In 2013, Mikey would be hired by Saturday Night Live as a writer for the 39th season. He was recommended by a friend, Nasim Pedrad, who had worked with him and knew his capabilities. He wrote several sketches and would later be promoted to the featured player for the 42nd season, then repertory player for the 44th season. His audition featured the impersonation of Donald Trump Jr. His debut appearance was the show hosted by Margot Robbie.
Over the years as he has worked with SNL, he has amassed several comedy impressions and impersonations, including Steve Bannon, Bruce Castor, Matt Hall, Prince Harry, Steve King, Pitbull, John Oliver, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Mikey Day is currently working with Disney on "Home Sweet Home Alone," a sixth film in the Home Alone franchise, expected to be released at the end of 2021.
