Alex Honnold is an American rock climber who is best known for the free solo ascents that he has of big walls such as the free soloing of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in 2017. As a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, he would study civil engineering. However, he would still drop out of school and find himself spending more time rock climbing than he would on his studies. In 2007, he would buy a Ford van which would allow him to travel to rock climb around the country. This would allow him to gain notoriety and recognition, especially after his 2008 solo of the Regular Northwest Face of Half Dome.
After appearing on the news and having an interview on 60 minutes, he would become a more recognizable figure in the rock-climbing community. Alex Honnold would continue to climb, climbing El Capitan in Yosemite, as well as several other summits in the United States. In 2014, Cliff bar, who had previously sponsored him, would announce that they would stop because they felt that he was taking too many risks.
In his personal life, he has lived in a van for over a decade, and he believes that it's not so much appealing, but he loves having the availability to go anywhere that he wants to and to travel and to abroad climb these beautiful places. In 2017, Alex bought a home in Las Vegas. It would be the first time that he had in a long time, and he would have to get furniture slowly but surely to outfit the place. He also is an avid vegetarian it does not drink alcohol or do drugs, and he loves reading classical literature and environmentalist subjects.
