Shawn Achor was born in Texas and would eventually pursue a Bachelor’s degree at Harvard University. His educational background is in theology, specifically Buddhism and Christianity, as well as psychology. At Harvard, he would also be a teaching assistant for Tal Ben-Shahar's popular "Happiness" course. Shortly after completing his Bachelor's, he would meet a Master's in Divinity from Harvard before starting his company, GoodThink, Inc. His company is focused on positive psychology and training to help work performance.
Achor has also presented at TEDx, with his speech being one of the most popular talks of all time. In addition, his video has earned over 20 million views to date and counting. Over the years, Shawn has published several works, including The Happiness Advantage, The Orange Frog, and Before Happiness. He also co-authored a novel for children with his sister, Amy Blankson, titled Ripple’s Effect.
Shawn Achor’s life’s work is on the power of positive thinking and positive psychology. Currently, he runs GoodThink, Inc., while also assisting with the Institute of Applied Positive Research. He created this organization shortly after the creation of GoodThink, Inc. The Institute of Applied Positive Research is managed by Shawn Achor and his wife, Michelle Gielan.
