Born in the Soviet Union, Regina Spektor emigrated to New York in 1989 and continued her classical piano studies. She later studied composition at SUNY Purchase. Spektor began writing pop songs in her teens and self-released her debut, *11:11*, in 2001. Her breakthrough came with her 2006 album *Begin to Hope*, featuring hits like "Fidelity." Subsequent albums *Far* (2009) and *What We Saw From the Cheap Seats* (2012) reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Spektor’s music has been featured in films and TV, and she supports various philanthropic causes.
