Paul Van Dyk, known personally as Matthias Paul, is a German DJ, record producer, and musician. Many people can call him the first world renowned DJ, because he was the first individual to receive a Grammy Award in the newly added category for dance music for 2003. He would win the award for him Best Dance/Electronic album for his album Reflections. In 2005 in 2006, he was named the number one DJ in the world. It was something that very few individuals had achieved at that time and even today.
Starting in the 1990s, he would become a remixer and a trance producer, creating popularity when he blended certain songs together. Paul Van Dyk would release “Love Stimulation” as a remix through the record label MFS in 1993 and he would receive significant attention. Despite his efforts to transition into more music genres, he's still wildly enjoys trance music to this day. He has been signed with labels such as Vandit, Armada, Black Hole, Ultra, Deviant, Universal, and others.
More recently, he is also the radio host of the show, “Vonyc Sessions with Paul”, which is on Dash Radio. Growing up, he lived in East Berlin and would eventually move to Hamburg, where he would get more involved in more of the music scene. This is what ultimately would bring him into his entrance as a DJ, a record producer, and as a significant influence over the music industry overall. Today, he is largely touted as the man who began the rise of DJ as a profession, and even as a more highly sought-after music genre.
