Leyla Acaroglu is an Australian designer, sustainability innovator, and educator. Throughout her career, she has founded two companies, including Disrupt Design and Eco Innovators. She also founded the UnSchool, where she disrupts the way people think about knowledge. Leyla’s program would win the Core77 Design Education Initiative Award.
Acaroglu has also developed the Disruptive Design Method, which is how she approaches social change. In 2016, she was named the UNEP Champion of the Earththrough the United Nations Environment Programme for her actions that have positively transformed and benefited the planet. Leyla Acaroglu has also won numerous awards including the 2005 UNEP Pathfinder Award and the Melbourne Design Award.
Acaroglu is also a published author. She wrote two books, The Good Design Guide, and MAKE CHANGE: A Handbook for Creative Rebels and Change Agents. Leyla has also had the honor of speaking at a TED conference in Long Beach California about environmental design with paper and plastic. The video itself has over 1 million views and she has also given numerous other talks on sustainability and design to audiences around the world.
