Eric O’Neill as a former American FBI counterterrorism and counterintelligence operative. As an FBI employee, he worked as an investigative specialist for the special surveillance group. He was a major player in the arrest, conviction, and imprisonment of FBI agent Robert Hanssen. Prior to his engagement as an FBI operative, he would graduate with a degree in political science and psychology from Auburn University.
After a short period of time with the FBI, he decided to leave to focus on his career in law school. He would receive his law degree from the George Washington University Law School in 2003. He would be able to being practicing law as a senior associate in the Government Contracts Group for the DLA Piper US LLP. Over the course of his career since then, he has been involved in several different organizations such as CHF international, the Georgetown Group, as well as his own organization that he cofounded, the Schiltron group.
Due to his experience and the infamous arrest of Robert Hanssen during his career in the FBI, he was also featured in the thriller,Breach, who would document the events leading up to the arrest of his coworker. About his FBI experience, Eric also wrote his own memoir,Gray Day: My Undercover Mission to Expose America’s First Cyber Spy, which was published by the Penguin Random House in 2019.
