David Pogue was born in Ohio and would graduate from Yale in 1985 with a degree in music. He would work for ten years in New York City, working at the Music Theatre International and as a conductor and arranger for several Broadway musicals. From 1988-2000, he would write for Macworld magazine. He would write a back-page column titled The Desktop Critic.In 2000, he would be the personal-tech columnist for The New York Times.
In 2002, Pogue would join the CBS News Sunday Morning as a correspondent. He has been hosting and writing content on science, technology, the environment, and show business. He would also appear from 2007 to 2011 in CNBC's Power Lunch in three-minute taped comic tech reviews. From 2010 to 2019, Pogue was also given a monthly column for Scientific America called the "Techno Files."
Over the years, David Pogue has also won numerous awards, including a Business Emmy in 2004 for his correspondent news stories on Google and spam content. He would also earn an honorary doctorate from the Shenandoah Conservatory in 2007 for his work between music and future topics of concern. Pogue has also won two Webby Awards for his online video series featured in The New York Times.
