Christopher Voss is an American businessman, author, and academic. He’s also a former FBI hostage negotiator and has also worked as the CEO of the Black Swan Group. As an author, he co-authored Never Split the Difference. Currently, he’s an adjunct professor at Harvard Law School, Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, and he’s also a lecturer at Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. As a business leader, he has inspired thousands of people.
Voss earned his Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University and earned a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Prior to his entrance into business, he was a part of the New York City Joint Terrorism Task Force from 1986 until 2000. He was then trained in the 1990s to become part of the FBI Crisis Negotiation Unit. When he retired in 2007, he founded the Black Swan Group, a consultancy and training program for both businesses and individuals with negotiation skills.
Currently, Voss has also entered journalism as a regular commentator for numerous channels including CNBC, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. He’s also worked with NPR on occasion, with features in Forbes, The New York times, Inc., and Time magazines. He’s also famous for his creation of the MasterClass, The Art of Negotiation, which people can take and learn from on their own.
