Discovered by the assistant to the president of Virgin Records Nashville while working in a restaurant, Chris Cagle was signed and released his debut single, "My Love Goes on and On," which hit the Top 20 in July 2000. His first album, Play It Loud, followed in October, with the track "Laredo" reaching the country Top 40. In 2001, he switched to Capitol Records, reissuing Play It Loud with two bonus tracks. Subsequent albums included a self-titled release in 2003, Anywhere But Here in 2005, and My Life's Been a Country Song in 2008. After a hiatus, he joined Big Picture Music Group in 2011, releasing "Got My Country On" ahead of the 2012 album Back in the Saddle.
