Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall, founders of the folk band Caamp, met at summer camp and started performing in parking lots and charity shows during high school. After bassist Matt Vinson joined, they independently released their 2016 self-titled debut, featuring the viral hit "Ohio." Meier, the band's guitarist and lead vocalist, cites Ray LaMontagne and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon as major influences. Their 2019 album, *By and By*, topped Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and produced the No. 1 adult alternative hit "Peach Fuzz." In 2020, their single "Officer of Love" also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
