Admiral William H. McRaven is a Navy SEAL who has several decades of experience in his military career. Completing 37 years in the military, he was drawn initially to the idea of military as a career because of his background with his father and his family friends. He joined the Navy ROTC once he entered school, and he found interest in writing and found it useful for his military career. He would go through some of the most rigorous training to become a Navy SEAL, which would allow him to become one of the most prepared individuals no matter the toughest of conditions around the world.
He would be assigned to the newly formed seal team 6, in which he would become the commander to propel them forward onto their first mission. In the 1980s, he would work under the support of President Ronald Reagan, supporting the buildup of military forces and the expansion of the Navy SEAL program. He would also serve during the Persian Gulf war and be a task unit commander in desert storm. He would be apart of several seal teams and at the same time, earned his master’s degree from the naval postgraduate school in Monterey CA. His master’s thesis has been studied and reprinted around the world for study and application.
Other than his Navy career, McRaven has also had several administrative positions. He has a very strong reputation from the Navy as well as his knowledge of the War on Terror and other military pursuits. his most recent positions involved serving as the deputy national security adviser and focusing on fighting the War on Terror. He would spent much of his time commanding hundreds of night raids on suspected terrorist targets and working to help and the pursuit of Osama bin Laden. As a military leader, McRaven is an inspiration to all, and shares his insights with the world, including through his book,Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World.
