South Florida native, Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange), is a Latin artist active since 2009. He's a versatile musician, playing guitar, synthesizer, and singing. In 2019, he received the Grants to Artists award in Music from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and the Joyce Foundation award in 2015. Fascinated by MTV in high school, he explored sound studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His debut album, Awe Owe, launched in 2009, followed by eight studio albums. In 2017, he hosted the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, showcasing his unique blend of folk and experimental music. His 2019 release, "This Is How You Smile," earned acclaim for its cosmic synth-folk sound and poignant lyrics.
